Calcium fluoride (CaF2) is a fluoride-based single crystal valued for its exceptionally wide optical transparency, spanning from the deep ultraviolet through the mid-infrared. Its low refractive index and low dispersion make it a preferred material for high-precision optical lenses and windows used across this broad spectral range.

CaF2 crystals are also known for their high laser damage threshold, making them well suited to applications involving high-intensity laser systems, including excimer laser optics.
