
Copper-Indium Sputtering Target
Copper-indium (CuIn) is a metallic precursor alloy central to the fabrication of chalcopyrite thin-film photovoltaic absorbers. Sputtered CuIn films serve as a well-controlled source of copper and indium that can be converted into a semiconductor absorber layer through subsequent reaction with chalcogen elements.
Sputtered CuIn thin films are widely used as metallic precursors for CuInSe2 (CIS) and Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin-film solar cell absorber layers. In the standard sequential process, sputtered CuIn (and, for CIGS, CuGa) precursor layers are subsequently selenized or sulfurized to form the chalcopyrite semiconductor that absorbs light in the finished photovoltaic device.
