Zinc-Aluminium Sputtering Target

Zinc-aluminium (ZnAl) combines zinc’s ability to act as a sacrificial anode with the barrier and corrosion-resistance properties of aluminium. Increasing the aluminium content of the alloy has been shown to further improve long-term corrosion protection performance compared to zinc alone.

Sputtered ZnAl thin films are used as sacrificial, corrosion-protective coatings on steel and other metal substrates, providing cathodic protection in aggressive or marine environments. This mirrors the well-established use of thermally sprayed and hot-dip ZnAl coatings, with sputtering offering a route to thinner, more uniform protective films for applications such as precision components.
