
Magnetite Sputtering Target
Iron(II,III) oxide (Fe3O4, magnetite) is a ferrimagnetic oxide predicted to be half-metallic, meaning it conducts electrons of only one spin orientation at the Fermi level. Sputtered Fe3O4 thin films are studied for this theoretical 100% spin polarization, which is of significant interest for spin-based electronic devices.
Sputtered Fe3O4 thin films are studied as spin-polarized electrode materials for spintronic devices such as magnetic tunnel junctions and spin valves, where high spin polarization can improve device performance. Fe3O4 thin films are also investigated as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries and as functional layers in magnetic biosensors.
