Barium Fluoride Sputtering Target

Barium fluoride (BaF2) is valued for its broad optical transparency spanning ultraviolet to infrared wavelengths, low refractive index, and high laser-induced damage threshold. Sputtered BaF2 thin films retain these characteristics, making them useful as functional optical coating layers.

Sputtered BaF2 thin films are used as anti-reflective and protective coating layers on infrared windows, lenses, and components for thermal imaging and night-vision systems, as well as in UV laser optics and UV detector coatings. BaF2 thin films are also studied as fast-decay scintillator layers for radiation and X-ray detection research.
