
Copper-Zinc-Tin Sputtering Target
Copper-zinc-tin (CuZnSn) is a metallic precursor alloy central to the fabrication of kesterite Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin-film photovoltaic absorbers, an indium- and gallium-free alternative to CIGS. Sputtered CuZnSn films provide a well-controlled source of the three metals required for the subsequent absorber-forming reaction.
Sputtered CuZnSn thin films are used as metallic precursors for Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) and Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) thin-film solar cell absorber layers. In the standard process, the sputtered metal precursor is subsequently sulfurized or selenized to form the kesterite semiconductor that absorbs light in the finished photovoltaic device.
