
Copper-Iron Sputtering Target
Copper-iron (CuFe) is a largely immiscible alloy system in which iron does not readily dissolve into copper under equilibrium conditions. When sputtered as a thin film, iron can be quenched into a metastable Cu-Fe solid solution, or segregated as fine magnetic alpha-iron nanoparticles within a copper matrix, depending on deposition and annealing conditions.
Sputtered CuFe granular films, with iron nanoparticles dispersed in a copper matrix, have been studied for their magnetotransport and magnetoresistive behavior, forming part of a broader family of copper-based granular magnetic thin films investigated for magnetic sensor and magnetoresistive read-head research.
