
Iron Sulfide Sputtering Target
Iron sulfide (FeS) exhibits tunable semiconducting behaviour along with interesting magnetic and optical properties, making it a material of interest in thin-film research. Sputtered iron sulfide films can be tuned in composition and stoichiometry to target specific electronic and optical characteristics.
Sputtered iron sulfide thin films are explored as absorber or heterojunction layers in thin-film solar cells, and as photoconductive layers in photodetectors, taking advantage of the material’s tunable electronic properties. Closely related iron sulfide phases (such as FeS2) deposited by RF magnetron sputtering have also been studied as binder-free electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline water splitting.
