
Zinc Selenide Sputtering Target
Zinc selenide (ZnSe) is a wide-bandgap II-VI semiconductor with broad optical transmission from the visible through the mid-infrared (roughly 0.45-21.5 micron), a high refractive index, and low optical absorption. Sputtered ZnSe thin films retain this broad transparency along with a high laser-damage threshold.
Sputtered ZnSe thin films are used in infrared optical coatings, including anti-reflective and beam-splitter coatings for lenses and windows in CO2 laser systems and thermal imaging devices, where ZnSe is the standard material for high-power 10.6 micron laser optics. ZnSe thin films are also studied as an optical window and buffer layer material for solar cell devices, and in blue LEDs and other optoelectronic devices.
